Even More Great Kids Movies to Watch In the Bunk Bed Pt. 1
The genre of animated kids movies is one of the most underrated of film genres. People think that it is a lesser form of film just because it is often made with kids in mind, but there can be some great wisdom, art, dialogue and stories in these children’s movies to parallel even the most powerful rated R dramas. Here is a list of some of the best children’s movies with humor, wit and wisdom to watch from your bunk beds.
Rock-a-Doodle
Who would have thought that an animated retelling of Geoffry Chaucer’s vulgar Canturbury Tales story of Chanticleer could be so family friendly and enjoyable. Chanticleer is a rocking rooster with big dreams of being a famous singer but his other roosters think he is too proud. An interesting fact about the film is that it almost got a PG rating from the MPAA but was able to quickly re-edit a few key scenes, including covering up Chanticleer’s girlfriend’s cleavage by painting over it and adding cel overlay feathers and replacing a wine glass with a transparent cup of soda.
The Chipmunk Adventure
You can’t go wrong with the Chipmunks in a feature film adventure story. Based on the NBC Saturday morning cartoon Alvin and the Chipmunks, this world spanning adventure finds the Chipmunks in Mexico SCity, England, Egypt, Antarctica and Los Angeles. Along their travels they get into a number of scrapes that they are often able to get out of through singing popular songs in their Chipmunk style, including “Wooly Bully” and “Leader of the Pack.” Parents may find the Chipmunk voices grating on the ears after awhile but kids will love it and it will at least keep them entertained.
