Dragonball One Piece
Do you think one piece should be the next dragonball z?

because of the story and the fanbase…if any anime should be on the top like dbz its one piece…

if you don’t understand what im saying..should take dbz throne. as the top manga/anime..

From what i know there are three titles (to attain) in manga.

1. Record of Fastest selling manga to reach 100 million sales mark. (One Piece)

2. Record of Highest sales record of Title Volume. (One Piece Volume. 27, Slam Dunk before and Dragon Ball before that)

3. Record of All-Time best selling manga (Dragon Ball, but already completed.)

“One Piece is especially big in Japan, soon to overthrow Dragonball as #1 in manga history sales, considering one is completed while one is only half-way through the story.”

Answer to Question: Regarding only Japan’s ‘manga’ all time record sales, I give OP the end of 2009 to see it on top – regarding ‘anime’ it’s a different generation of fanbase compared to DB, but also a lot of the old DB generation are fans of OP (they’re in their early 20s – early 40s now)

————————— ———————————

BUT – what DragonBall had, that no Shonen anime/manga has now, is a underdeveloped taste of the audiences (excluding Japan) very little competition in it’s time and most of all – the popularity it had in all sides of the world.

————————— ———————————

For the sake of my time, I’m only gonna point out what i think only between the ‘Holy’ Shonen Trinity.

- One Piece, I see it having the content of something truly inspired and what DB had but also much more, It is also the most fortunate enough out of these three to have an almost perfect manga to anime adaptation – but unfortunately has been branded in the ‘public’s’ eye of the West and English-speaking nation as a joke (thanks to 4kids) – but in countries where it was given proper dubs, it does very well.

- Naruto is also inspired from DB and what I see as a all around popular shonen title – It’s very popular but hyped in the West and North but does well South and in the East.
What i see it missing is the ‘overall’ popularity DB had (especially in the content of it’s anime adaptation) but since this is about a question regarding a title surpassing DB, I will answer – It’s not even close, but it’s also the closest between the trinity – regarding only popularity, but Naruto at most, is only half as popular as how DB was.

- Bleach, not inspired by DB, but I see it rather as Yu Yu Hakusho’s clone WITH Shinigami’s, swords, too many power-ups and a huge cast.
Interestingly enough, out of the trinity, Bleach certainly does reminds me most of DBZ with it’s many, many fighting sequences.
The Art, Battle sequences, Huge Cast and Power-Ups is what makes Bleach – Bleach and seem like DBZ, unfortunately that is not enough, what Bleach is missing is a genuine storyline, plot and many grounds to cover that DB/DBZ and other titles have not.
Bleach however, only next to Naruto, is also very popular in the North and West, not entirely sure what of South, but in the East it also does well regarding manga only next to Naruto, but is now losing sales and some of it’s fans.
