History of Animation: Before Disney
Since time began, man has always been interested in capturing a sense of movement throughout work of art. From eight-legged boar was found in the caves of Altamira in northern Spain just next to the mummified remains of pharaohs long, passion by motion capture is still evident in every possible art known to man.
A good example of what a cartoon like the old can be found in ancient Egyptian wall decorations. An illustration of Leonardo's famous representative of how the various members to look in different positions. Giotto seems miraculously to take a leak in their movements, and the Japanese used scrolls to tell their stories.
actual animation can never be achieved without the first person to understand a basic principle of "persistence of vision." This principle has been especially brought to our notice by a Frenchman named Paul Roget 19th century, who also invented the thaumotrope. This particular device ended up being a disk with a rope tied at both ends. One side of the disc had a bird in it and the other an empty cage. When the disc was spun, the bird seems to be in the cage. This only goes to show that the human eye can hold images, even when exposed to a series of photos, one at a time.
Since then there have been two other inventions that have come a long way to advance the cause of the animation: the phenakistoscope by Joseph Plateau and the zoetrope by Pierre Desvignes. The card was phenakistoscope like structure with circular openings along the edges. When the viewer on the device until a mirror background and peered through the slits, a series Drawing on the edge of the map seems to the viewer as a moving object. The same technique was used for the zoetrope, in which a strip of paper containing sketches are carefully inserted into a cylinder. The cylinder is rotated about an axis and the viewer looks through the slots in the top cylinder. The figures inside the cylinder magically come to life.
The invention of the camera and projector motion of Edison was the first real invention that has driven the concept of animation to reality. Well, animation is becoming reality with the camera movement, still in its simplest forms. The film by Stuart Blackton, "Phases of Funny Funny Faces" was probably the first animated film to bring real life. For the film, where comic draw faces on a blackboard, then photographed, following which have been erased and another step out are expressions.
This particular stop motion "effect wowed the audience with only his success in doing basic drawings to life.
In the 20 years of age, the hype surrounding the story began to decrease, while the film exhibitors began to look elsewhere for other sources of entertainment media. The reason for this being that the public was bored watching animated figures to do their jobs without any real history. At this point, the animation was still in its basic form (with the exception of Winsor McCay is functioning as Gertie the Dinosaur). What McCay was able to achieve this dinosaur character brought to life, something that has been observed that in the cat Felix Otto Messmer. The concept a dinosaur come to life is in itself remarkable.
The major drawback of animated films that came out during this time was the fact that he never has been a focus for the plots. The animation during this period were only a series of gags that have been chained to chance. And this is not what anyone would call today fun.
Of course, you have to take into account that most animated films are based on primitive rope gags (and in many cases of violence) together. In many films as you would a character against another cruelty. But the hero is cut into slices of ham ugly.
As absurd as it may seem to us today, He did a great job for a while then, until a great change took place in the animation industry in the mid-twenties. Animation Studios more large began to take smaller projects and establish industry standards for an animation. The facilitators were given a number of drawings per day and draw cartoons began to be produced at lower cost and quantity.
And this is how the animation industry began before the time of Disney.
