Giving Corporate Gifts in Japan

Japan continues to grow in the art of maintaining the significant goodwill with its trading partners. More than ever, Levante, Sun provides corporate gifts as a way to give high regard to both customers and employees.

Gifts need not be of great value, but if are not considered a bribe or an insult. To top Japanese executives, however, donations must be of superior quality with increasing rank. It is important to respect Gift label, because otherwise, are certainly offensive.

Gifts should be wrapped, but the paper should not be too clear or white. Take special care with white because it symbolizes death. Also, never give things in groups of four, because the Japanese word for four, "shi", very similar to the word death. Unfortunately, these rules of golf balls. The Japanese can be very superstitious about it.

Both hands should always be used for a gift, or even a business card.

Never show an unexpected gift, except on special occasions as the first meeting, when it is obvious that you get anything. Instead, must fall into a sort of subtle hint that you want to present a small token of respect or a memory in the near future.

When the gift is for a group make sure all met before the presentation and keep in mind that it is considered extremely rude to make a gift to a recipient. Therefore must be filed all the groups, or a gift to each member.

The gift itself should be minimized as much as possible. This is common in all Asian cultures. Friendship should be allowed to come to the forefront rather than the physical object is a symbol of it.

cash gifts or those with the logo of the company are generally not acceptable in Japan.

As for the time of his gift, the end of a visit is the best time. Corporate gifts are generally given to mid-15 July and the end of the year, January 1.

It is difficult to choose a gift for a Japanese, however, as we have said, if the donations should be multiple absolute classification is essential, according to the position of the company. Products not available in Japan are always welcome, as they are extremely expensive. Pen is a symbol of knowledge, is one of the appropriate gifts for their Japanese counterparts. It is also easy to store.

Provide gifts in the region Pacific, by contrast, is not as bound as formal and ritual in Japan, although the importance of a corporate gift is also considered as essential and reluctant to accept a gift of a small business.

Gifts are somewhat more problematic in China, where giving gifts to officials was banned under communism. Gift Giving is experiencing a popular resurgence, but to avoid giving the impression that this is a bribe, the guidelines should observe the following: your donation should not be too expensive, carry the company logo, and preferably be presented to a group rather than a single leader.
