the statute of limintations on a 20 year old bill?
about the statute of limitations on a bill that was sent to credit services, about 20 years ago. his x-wife was suppose to pay that since he was stationed in japan. it came back up when a $12.00 billwas overlooked by my mother and was sent to the same cedit service. what should he do?
this is all in california.
There probably is no statute of limitations. I would think that the bill has become what is known as a ‘zombie debt’.
Zombie debt refers to old debt purchased by debt collectors hoping to intimidate consumers into paying the debt. If you’re contacted by a collection agency about an old debt, don’t give in immediately. You have several tools you can use to fight back.
