How do I get my 2 1/2 yr old kitty use to riding in a car?
I am originally from Tennessee but live in the state of Maryland. I travel a lot back and forth, but I have to leave my kitty. I don’t like leaving my kitty and I want to take him with me every where I go. Is it possible to get a Cat to adjust to traveling and being around people, other animals or just going for rides?

I travel with my cat every weekend. I am in the Army, and go home every week-end. It is 2 hours each way. I got a medium size metal cage, put a blanket in the bottom, and put a 1 ft by 1 ft cardboard box inside of it. When we travel I put a sheet over it, so she can’t see the passing trees, cars, trucks, and it reduces her stress. She curls up in the cardboard box and sleeps the whole way. I make sure that she can see me, so I keep one side uncovered, just so she can see me. I reach over and poke a finger in to pet her thru-out the trip, she handles it very well.
DO NOT DRIVE WITH AN UNCAGED CAT. That can be VERY dangerous. They can jump up on the dash, or under the petals.
