Early 2010 Albums to Drown Out the Sound of Train Horns Pt. 4
The early part of 2010 has a number of new releases that any fan of music should be interested in. No matter what genre of music you like, from hip-hop to country rock to indie rock to dance pop to electronica, there are some great new releases coming out that may have flown under your radar. Well, thankfully I am here to let you know what great albums are coming out in early 2010. Without further ado, here is a list of some of the most noteworthy new releases in early 2010 to look forward to if you are looking for some new music to drown out the sound of loud train horns.
The Album Leaf – A Chorus of Storytellers
After touring with Sigur Ros in the early part of the decade, The Album Leaf was riding high with the band’s soft, gentle ambient rock songs and the use of their inoffensive music in numerous television shows and commercials. He released a few more low-key records that did little to change his formula of soft, Rhodes keyboard lines and gentle drum beats with the occasional guest vocal part. His new record “A Chorus of Storytellers” will hopefully see the group taking more risks with their sound, not content to just make the same lulling music over and over. By the sound of the title maybe they have enlisted the help of numerous singers to add some variety to the music. Lets hope so.
Four Tet – There is Love In You
Four Tet aka Kieran Hebden has been moving away from his glitchy kitchen-sink recordings from his early years into something closer to mainstream sounding techno electronica. Instead of cutting up his compositions into skittering, jolty pastiches, his new material isn’t afraid to stick to a steady beat, something you could even hear on the dance floor. After his 2008 EP “Ringer,” the influence of electro and England’s dubstep movement seem to have had an obvious influence on Four Tet’s new material. The new album “There is Love In You” will likely be a beautiful, danceable experiment in mixing many different electronica styles and samples.
