Why Lavi / Rabi D.Gray-man wearing a patch over one eye?

Well, not yet officially responded. But there is a scene in which some Lavi was essentially to find a key in the middle a large bunch of keys that appear identical. He says he can find because I remember every detail as it was scratched and dented, and said something like "I my left eye is not good enough to find.
