How did Meer Campbell die?
Meer died on the episode: “Phase 46: The Song of Truth”
… As Lacus is about to climb into the Akatsuki’s hand, Meer sees that Sarah (a sniper/ assassin) is about to fire and pushes Lacus out of the way. Meer takes the bullet and falls to the ground, and Athrun kills Sarah. Meer gives a picture of her real self to Lacus and asks Lacus not to forget her. She then says she is sorry and dies.
