Why is my checked bag always searched by TSA?

Literally every time I’ve checked a bag for the last few years, I end up with a note that TSA has hand-searched my bag. This has never happened to my husband. I don’t pack anything “illegal” – is there something I’m doing wrong with my packing or wrong about my bag that sets TSA off, or am I just unlucky?

You probably have something or somethings in your bag that appear to be suspicious on x-ray, so your bag is being hand searched. It is probably something like a hair curler or dryer or such. TSA is just opening the bag and looking at the one thing to see what it is.
