What is this ‘eye-patch’ called?
I was wondering what this ‘eye-patch’ like thing is actually called.–>http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/ll275/my-pancake-revenge/untitled.jpg I’ve seen it around in manga, games, anime, etc.
The eyepatch in Japanese is a ‘gantai’-
This isn’t referring to any specific type of eyepatch- gantai can refer to a pirate eyepatch, a samurai-type one or even the medical-use gauze eyepatches.
Japanese use eyepatches like the one you linked for protection from infection or to help prevent lazy eye in children, but more often than not, eyepatches are a weird new style (check the last two links below) for ‘kegadoru’ (lit. ‘wounded doll’) where girls wear eyepatches and bandages as clothing accessories. >.<
