how do i show proof i filed taxes if i did them myself?
i need to file/fix back years taxes in order to close on a house. if i did them myself, how would i have proof i just filed them? (you cant e-file back taxes)
If there is a local IRS office with a Taxpayer Assistance Center, you can visit them with your return plus a copy of the face of the return. Have them date-stamp both of them.
Then you can attach your date-stamped copy to the front of your copy of the return you are providing to the bank.
Look in the “Blue Pages” of your local yellow pages for federal agency listings. If there is a TAC, the listing for the IRS should say so.
