As a fighter pilot who saw my participation in combat during the Vietnam War, I thought I knew Medal of Honor recipient Bud Day. After all, served of the elite fighting unit, was trained to conduct a secret war along the Ho Chi Minh City during the late 1960 (one unit is generally known as "Misty" your call to the battle). But after reading "American Patriot", I realized I was totally wrong. profiles Robert Coram's book a man with a seemingly inexhaustible store of value and a sense of impeccable control honor – who gladly made the elimination of his country throughout his life.

The book is detailed and well written in terms that even the sales of "big" are not fighter pilots can understand. The descriptive scenes of his torture of prisoners war are painful to read sometimes, but know they are not exaggerated, and that what makes them more disturbing.

The words "honor", "integrity" and "heroes" were common in our society to the extent where few people know or care what they mean more. In an ideal world, these issues will be addressed at school, or at least discussed in the country. But we live in a perfect world, so I suggest that "American patriot" be required reading in all high schools and universities in the United States. This is a profound and moving book from a man whom history has a great time for American heroes.

Ron Standerfer is a retired Air Force Colonel and fighter pilot who flew 250 combat missions during the Vietnam War. He has written numerous short stories, magazine articles, and blog pieces on military aviation in general, and fighter pilots in specific. During the initial bombing of Baghdad during the Persian Gulf War, he was seen on national TV as a military analyst.
