Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies: a difference?
What is the difference between the series of cartoons for Warner Brothers Merrie Melodies and Looney Tunes? They use the same characters (Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, et al) that I see. Do you relate to different years? The different topics? different directors? All I can say is that they have used different theme tunes title.
Merrie Melodies is the name of a cartoon series distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures between 1931 and 1969. The series was produced by Leon Schlesinger Productions until 1944, Schlesinger sold his studio to Warner. The new Warner Bros. cartoon renamed, Inc. continued producing the series until 1964. Looney Tunes is a Warner Brothers animated cartoon series which ran in many movie theaters from 1930 to 1969. It preceded the Merrie Melodies series, Warner Bros. Animation, and is both first series of cartoons and the second longest continuous animated series in any medium. [Citation needed] Warner Bros. Animation also spoke regularly known as "Looney Tunes" (often misspelled, intentionally or not, as "Looney Toons").
