gold stop watch price questions?
hey guys now i have a very rare old stop watch from my great grandfather. its in the red case and everything and its a 17 jewel gold stopwatch with the chain and everything. my question is how much if i went to a jewerly and loan store would i get for it?if i went to an antique store how much would i get for it?if anybody knows lemme know thanks guys later
Most pawn shops would only give you 30 to 50% of the gold value and no antique value for the piece.
Antique shops might give a better price, but you’d be best to do some research ahead of time so that you know what the retail value is and have a starting price from which you can negotiate.
Go to several antique shops before selling.
See if your library has the Complete Price Guide to Watches (Tinderbox Press) or browse through it at a bookstore to see if your stopwatch is listed there.
